The Ocean Alexander 84R Skylounge Panacea is currently listed with Gilman Yachts for $6.65 million. The 2020 motor yacht has accommodations to sleep eight guests in its four-stateroom, five-head layout.

Yachting has previously reported that “the 84R is built via resin infusion with structural foam, fiberglass and carbon fiber, for strength at sea. Carbon fiber is applied to high-stress areas and used in construction of the sky lounge. Aluminum beams in the bulkheads and ceiling further strengthen the yacht.”

A set of stairs from the Ocean Alexander 84R’s cockpit lead up to the aft deck of the sky lounge, which is set up with loose furniture, a wet bar and grill combo, multiple lounge pads and a whirlpool spa. Forward, through the sliding glass doors, is the enclosed all-weather sky lounge. An L-shaped sofa and ottoman are to starboard with two loose lounge chairs in front of the cabinets to port, all abaft the three-seat upper helm station.

The sky lounge’s forward stairs lead to the main deck and salon. The salon has an L-shaped settee, lounge chair and an ottoman to port. The galley is also to port and amidships. It’s set up with high-end appliances for the at-sea chef, including a JennAir 30-inch, full-size stainless-steel oven, 30-inch stainless- steel microwave with exhaust fan and work light, 30-inch four-burner glass top cooktop, stainless-steel dishwasher, a Fisher & Paykel 36-inch double-door stainless-steel refrigerator with freezer drawer below, a Whirlpool 15-inch stainless-steel trash compactor, waste disposal, a stainless-steel sink and a Separate Seagull drinking water trap for purified water. There is an eight-person formal dining table to starboard.

Stepping aft through the sliding glass doors brings guests to the cockpit where owners and their guests can enjoy alfresco dining at the four-person bench seat and fixed table–add loose chairs and there’s room for eight.

Wide side decks lead to the foredeck where guests will have a few options to choose from for lounging. Forward is a three-person sun pad with a U-shaped sofa and fixed table. A sun shade can be set up for shaded comfort.

Belowdecks there is a day head as well as all four staterooms. There is a full-beam master stateroom amidships with a king berth and his-and-hers ensuite heads. The VIP stateroom has a queen berth and en suite head. Both the port and starboard guest staterooms have lower bunks that can be arranged to be queen-size berths. They also both have en suite heads.

Panacea’s power is a pair of 1,650 hp MAN V12s. Both engines are currently at only 457 hours.

The swim platform acts as the yacht’s tender stowage. It’s worth noting that a 2021 Venture 16-foot Walker Bay tender is included in the purchase of Panacea.

When I arrived at the marina, I asked the dock master where the Ocean Alexander 32E was moored. He grinned and said, “Oh, you’ll see it.”

He was right. The 32E didn’t so much float as tower head and shoulders over most other boats in the marina. Think Arnold Schwarzenegger at a debutante ball, or Kilimanjaro above the plains of the Serengeti. This is a yacht for grand adventures on the seven seas.

The 32E’s profile is forward-loaded, tapering aft from a tall plumb bow. It’s clear that the two decks aft, off the bridge and salon, are designed for alfresco living, with a beach club at the transom. The swim platform is full-on watersports, with a 2,500-pound crane to handle tenders from about 16 to 18 feet long, as well as personal watercraft. There’s also room here for toys and dive gear. Both hull sides butterfly out to expand the yacht’s beam from just under 22 feet to 27 feet. The air-conditioned beach club provides a lounge for guests to watch the action in comfort.

On the main deck, the salon has defined zones for entertaining, including leather U-shaped Poltrona Frau couches from Turin and a formal dining area for 10 guests, with electric sliding doors on each side for fresh air.

The enclosed galley is pure gourmet, arranged around an island that allows two chefs to prep, cook and plate without crowding. Equipment includes a 30-inch, five-burner Wolf cooktop and a Fisher Paykel fridge, and there are Berwyn quartz counters.

A companionway leads to the owner’s main-deck stateroom. It spans the yacht’s beam (no walkaround side decks) with a king berth and two walk-in closets. The head has a free-standing hot tub, a heated stone sole and twin vanities. The lower deck has four en suite staterooms for guests. The VIP is forward with a queen berth and a love seat. Two mirrored staterooms are abaft the foyer with queen berths, and there’s a guest stateroom to port with twins.

Ocean Alexander has a long-standing mantra that “happy crews make happy owners,” which is why the 32E has a crew space abaft the engine room. Access is safe in all weather scenarios with 24-inch-wide side decks. There is an en suite captain’s cabin and a high-low bunk stateroom with a head for crew. The mess has a kitchenette with a sink, a microwave and a fridge, and a washer and dryer are provided for the crew.

What Ocean Alexander calls the bridge deck, I see as a sky lounge with an outdoor component. It stretches full beam from the four-person hot tub (wrapped by a sun pad) aft to the forward helm. Along the way is a Poltrona Frau sofa facing a full bar to starboard with four swivel stools and sole-to-ceiling windows. A day head is convenient to the deck and the sky lounge.

Ocean Alexander 32E stateroom

The helm, as expected from a builder with a long history of producing oceangoing yachts, has a trio of 24-inch Garmin touchscreen multifunction displays for navionics as well as a closed-circuit camera feed from the engine room and on deck. A Garmin remote is built into the armrest of the skipper’s pedestal seat. Two husky pantograph doors lead to the single-level foredeck, with a forward-facing dinette/lounge and a convertible sun pad that faces fore or aft.

Standard power for the 32E is twin 2,000 hp MAN V-12 diesels, and they live in an impressive engine room. The engines are separated by a diamond-plate walkway with safety rails, and there is access to all sides. Outboard are a pair of 40 kW Kohler gensets with equally good access. The 32E sets a benchmark for color-coded, secured piping and electrical runs. Delta-T intake and exhaust fans have vents in the cabin sides, rather than the hull, because Ocean Alexander expects the 32E to shoulder through big seas. The engine beds are welded stainless steel surrounding large structural stringers. There’s a smart lube-oil-change system for the mains and the gensets, and a Gulf Coast fuel-polishing system should ensure clean food for the diesels in faraway ports.

This 32E is also outfitted with Side-Power Vector zero-speed stabilizers, a 53 hp bow thruster and a 42 hp stern thruster. The Dometic air conditioning is rated for extreme tropical climates, with heating designed down to 40-degree water temps. The 50 hz Atlas Marine Power Converter allows automatic marina connections anywhere in the world, and the aerospace-designed Octoplex provides sensors and controls for the ship’s systems and lighting.

Underway, the Ocean Alexander 32E is going to cause immediate cravings for anyone who has dreamed of anchoring off the volcanic peaks of Moorea or nudging a glacier to get thousand-year-old ice for a gin and tonic. This yacht exuded power and strength from the moment the bow touched the Gulf Stream, and I found myself glancing at the fuel gauge to consider how far the 3,600-gallon capacity might take us. On the pins, the 32E topped out at 21 knots, in case owners need to outrun a squall. That’s impressive speed for a yacht with a 274,233-pound displacement. Dropping back to 800 rpm and 7.1 knots (the MANs will last forever), the yacht has a 2,430-nautical-mile range. That’s about the distance from New York to Panama or Los Angeles to Honolulu.

The stabilizers held the yacht rock-steady in the lumpy Gulf Stream, and departing from and returning to the marina was fingertip easy with the thrusters. The 32E that I got aboard also had optional engine controls on each after corner for even easier docking.

Creating such a solid ride starts with the 32E being built tough. It has an infused-fiberglass hull and closed-cell structural foam with unidirectional carbon-fiber reinforcement on stress areas, such as stringers. There is a reinforced collision bulkhead forward, and watertight bulkheads are forward of and abaft the engine room.

Ocean Alexander 32E
From the open-cockpit design to the beach club, hot tub and foredeck lounge, outdoor living is center stage. Courtesy Drone Genius/Larson Group

Owners of this yacht could throw a dart at a world map to choose their next waypoint. The Ocean Alexander 32E is ready to go.

Meet the Designer

Yacht designer Evan K. Marshall says he grew up with a stack of Yachting magazines in his closet and doodled boats on his notebooks in school. Marshall introduced the split-level owner’s stateroom to yachts. From his office on the River Thames in England, he produces innovative designs for builders from Ocean Alexander to Hatteras Yachts and more.

Robust Reinforcement

Ocean Alexander reinforces the 32E’s hull and deck with straight aircraft-grade aluminum beams that are reportedly 10 times stiffer than wood or fiberglass, but that help keep the yacht’s overall weight low for safety and seaworthiness.

MAN Power

The 2,000 hp MAN diesels on the Ocean Alexander 32E are Tier 3 compliant for Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards, and they have a MAN gold-standard warranty for 60 months. A V-12 designed for luxury yachts, this four-stroke engine has strong torque to 2,100 rpm and displaces 24.2 liters (1,476 cubic inches).

Evolution is the natural progression in a yacht model’s life cycle. In fact, it is largely influential on a model’s success. As owners change, as regulations change, as lifestyles change, so too should the model’s design, thus maintaining the distinguishing element that sets it apart in its class while offering the very best and latest that design can provide.

Ocean Alexander’s Legend Series of motoryachts was introduced to the market in 2014 with the 100 Legend. Designed in collaboration with Evan K. Marshall, this entry-level yacht in the Taiwanese builder’s six-model lineup offered an enclosed sky lounge with large sections of glass and multiple accommodations configurations, the most significant of which was the on-deck master stateroom with its large wardrobes, sunken en suite and stateroom-level night head. Key features of the model included a five-stateroom layout, near floor-to-ceiling windows and all-around large spaces throughout, including for crew.

Six years and nearly twenty 100 Legend builds later, OA introduced the next evolution in  its Legend Series with the 105-foot 32L at the 2020 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Marked by an updated exterior style with lowered bulwarks and complementing glass, carbon and aluminum-beam elements, the all-composite 32L was worth noting—if not for its spacious layout, redesigned on-deck master suite and optional open flybridge, but for its trans-Atlantic range as well.

This year, two 2024 32L models will be on display at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, each representing a distinct layout option that the 32L currently provides, and each, once again, demonstrating the builder’s continual focus on innovation. While an open flybridge remains an optional configuration, both yachts on display feature an enclosed sky lounge. The biggest differences between the two can be found in the master stateroom and galley layouts, the bow seating-area design, and the bridge deck layout.

The first—OA 32L Hull No. 8—showcases a hydraulic swim platform that has been reinforced to tow up to a 25,000 tender. The platform itself can hold 2,000 pounds for a rigid hull dinghy, jet skis, or other toys of the owner’s choosing. This allows for the bridge deck aft of the enclosed sky lounge and wheelhouse to be crane-free. Freeing up this space sees an uninterrupted bridge deck area with full-width sun pads surrounding a hot tub for four farthest aft. A barbecue grill is positioned to starboard, while the large U-shaped dinette on the port side is partially shaded by the hardtop overhang (with optional sun awnings providing additional shade) opposite a bar with three stools.

Ocean Alexander 32L Skylounge
The 32L08’s spacious skylounge includes a large galley and dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows. Courtesy Ocean Alexander

On the main deck, a custom ceiling design on the aft deck adds indirect lighting to the bright and airy space, which features a raised U-shaped settee with two convertible high/low dinette tables facing a wet bar and fold-down television. The main salon is separated by a low credenza from the formal dining area with a table for 10, highlighted by the model’s sliding doors on either side.

Forward, the large galley is kept separate from the guest spaces, while the master stateroom—in this case, configured with a large en suite aft with heated floors and separate toilet and shower enclosures—takes advantage of the 180-degree sections of glass overlooking the forward bow area. Accessed by the walkaround side decks, the bow area on this yacht is designed with a large, sunken U-shaped seating space and dinette, which also can be protected by sun awnings.

Ocean Alexander 32L Salon

On the lower deck, large crew quarters are positioned aft of the engine room housing the yacht’s twin MAN V-12 1,900 hp engines, while four spacious guest staterooms are found forward. The guest area comprises two mirrored queen VIP cabins amidships, with two convertible twin en suite staterooms forward.

The second yacht on display—OA 32L Hull No. 9—positions the davit on the bridge deck for tender storage. Here, a three-person hot tub is positioned forward to accommodate the tender or free-standing lounge chairs when the tender is deployed. The hydraulic high/low swim platform accommodates up to 2,000 pounds and has also been reinforced to facilitate towing a tender up to 25,000 pounds.

On the main deck, the first structural difference is found in the forward galley, which features an alternate configuration as well as a pass-through window to the dining salon for easy food service. It is the master stateroom on this yacht, however, that showcases the biggest differentiation from her sistership. Raised two steps from the main deck level, the stateroom itself once again enjoys near-panoramic vista views from the large 180-degree windows. The large master en suite—also with heated floors—occupies the forwardmost space just a few steps down from the bedroom and workspace area.

The master suite configuration on this yacht allows for a large reclining sun pad forward on the bow, which can also be shaded with a sun awning.

The lower deck sees the same spacious crew quarters aft of the engine room, while the guest accommodations comprise two mirrored queen VIP en suites, a convertible twin to starboard, and a portside utility room with a lower single bed, an upper Pullman berth, and a private head.

Ocean Alexander 32L
The Legend Series 32L displays Ocean Alexander’s continued evolution through customizable layouts and spacious interiors highlighted by near floor-to-ceiling windows. Courtesy Ocean Alexander

Both yachts retain the aluminum-beam engineering that allows for impressively sized windows enhancing the exterior profile, as well as the spacious feeling on board, while also showcasing the different interior design templates—Hull No. 8 with Novus Dusk and Hull No. 9 with Novus Mist—that OA offers its clients.

While not the smallest yacht build that OA offers, the 32L is the smaller of the two models in the Legend Series, with the larger being the trideck 37L. By offering increased interior space, particularly in the crew and galley areas, and several layout variations to suit different a variety of lifestyles as well as private or charter use, OA continues to meet the needs of its clients and fulfill its mission to never stop evolving and innovating.

Four staterooms, including a full-beam master, plus two crew cabins help make the Ocean Alexander 85E a sizable family voyager for long-range cruising. When launched, the 85E was notable for its modern exterior design elements: a reverse transom, house-length side windows, a raked windshield, a radar arch and window pillars to the hardtop support, to name a few. It was equally notable for its interior feel, with warm woods such as dark walnut and teak. As of August 2023, there were two Ocean Alexander 85Es on the market, ranging from $4.49 million to $5.29 million.

From the Archive

“The skipper sits in lordly comfort in a Stidd pedestal helm chair. Underway, the Ocean Alexander 85E is as fast as you’d expect considering the 3,600 snorting and pawing horses stuffed in the engine room. Top speed is a freckle north of 22 knots, but, if you’re not in a hurry to get home, a comfortable 50 percent load gives you about 13 knots at 2 gallons per mile. At 10.7 knots, range is 2,200  nautical miles.”

Superyachts are the commanders of the sea, and it makes sense why. These super-sized vessels can do everything, from indefinitely taking you away from land to being the headquarters of your next angling adventure. Whether it’s on the top deck, the main deck or belowdecks, the volume on superyachts is unmatched. Owners customize these spaces with modular furniture, hot tubs, swimming pools, beach clubs, gymnasiums and more, making them as unique as fingerprints.

Here are 10 amazing superyachts on the water today.

Ferretti Yachts 860

Flybridge designs are fundamental to the Ferretti Yachts DNA, and this one sticks with the winning formula. The after half of the flybridge is open to interpretation, with a hot tub option, while the standard layout forward includes a dinette for eight guests, a sun pad to port, and a wet bar and two-seat helm station to starboard. [Mike] Joyce is the CEO of Hargrave Custom Yachts, whose latest 105, Irresistible, exemplifies numerous ways the builder tailors its designs to what each owner wants.

Irresistible, for instance, has a raised pilothouse, creating an all-weather backup to the flybridge helm. The bridge is open, but it’s shaded by the fiberglass hardtop, rather than having a sky lounge on board. That’s already a lot of personalization based on the starting point of a new Jack Sarin-designed hull that tops out at 21 knots and cruises at 18 knots. In addition, this owner was planning 1,000-nautical-mile voyages, so he opted for twin 1,600 hp Caterpillar C32 Acert diesels. Irresistible reportedly has a 2,000-nautical-mile range at 10 knots. … Yachtsmen began to learn that gross tonnage was more important than feet and inches in terms of the creature comforts they wanted.

The 116-foot-9-inch Ocean Alexander 35R, whose gross tonnage is just shy of 300, is the latest model to demonstrate both points. Hull No. 1 was commissioned by a client before the shipyard could exhibit the yacht, and Hull No. 2 sold quickly during its debut at the [2021] Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida. As of early December [2021], Hull No. 7 was the first available build slot, with delivery anticipated in 2024. Wally WHY200

Why WHY200? The acronym stands for Wally Hybrid Yachts, which has nothing to do with hybrid propulsion, but rather a hull designed for a range of displacement and semi-displacement cruising speeds. And the numerals don’t reference length. They reflect the approximate volume (199 gross tons), which is a lot for a yacht with a length overall of just 89 feet.

But length is not what matters these days. Gross tonnage and beam—the feeling of space—are the important metrics. And on this yacht, that most important effect is achieved. — Phil Draper, “Wally’s WHY200 Impresses Inside and Out

Project 406 has a length overall of 171 feet. That means the vessel will dwarf not only the most sizable 80- to 105-footers from well-known sport-fish builders—such as Viking Yachts, Bayliss Boatworks and Jim Smith Tournament Boats—but also the behemoth one-off sport-fishers such as the 144-foot Trinity Bad Company, 130-foot McMullen & Wing Mea Culpa and 129-foot Yachting Developments Lanakai. As the team at Royal Huisman expressed this reality about Project 406, “This groundbreaking creation will be, by some distance, the largest, most luxurious and individual true sport-fish yacht in the world.” — Kim Kavin, “Biggest Sport-Fishing Boat in the World

Sanlorenzo SL106 Asymmetric

The idea behind the Asymmetric line dates back several years. Sanlorenzo was wrestling with how to provide owners with more usable interior space. An initial idea was a widebody design, in which the main-deck interior spans the yacht’s full beam. Sanlorenzo quickly decided that wasn’t practical for smaller to midsize superyachts. So, [Sanlorenzo CEO Massimo] Perotti sought the input of designer Chris Bangle, with whom Sanlorenzo has been working since 2015. Bangle is known for shaking up the designs of Fiat and BMW. He came up with the notion of a widebody to one side to benefit owners along with a full side deck opposite, as well as an over-the-widebody passage from the flybridge to the bow to benefit the crew. — Diane M. At first, the owner thought he and his family would use the 112-foot Hannah without making any changes. Then, his wife looked at it.

“The original idea was just to change a few things inside, but you start one thing, and you say, ‘Why don’t you do the next one?’” he says. “We kept going and going and going.”

After buying the Westport yacht in early 2020, the owner brought in Destry Darr Designs for the refit. She ended up orchestrating a total overhaul, finishing the project at the end of 2020. The yacht’s post-refit maiden cruise with the family was during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays that winter, then Westport Yachts began offering Hannah for charter. — Kim Kavin, “Refitting the 112-Foot ‘Hannah’ for Charter

Hargrave ‘Baba’s’

These days, many shipyards tell buyers they can design their yachts the way they see fit, but some of those same builders actually offer semicustom yachts. Some, arguably, are more production than semicustom. Clients have two, maybe three choices for general arrangements, for example, and the exterior styling is set in stone. Fewer permit moving nonstructural bulkheads. Much of the time, the systems and engine packages are nonnegotiable.

That was not the case with Baba’s.

Hargrave saw the challenge as a way to prove its mettle to would-be owners outside the United States. “This is the connection to the global market we never had,” says Michael Joyce, Hargrave’s CEO. The yard also let [Sam] Shalem—a longtime owner of a real-estate-development and -management company who is accustomed to assembling teams—play a large role in choosing craftsmen to work on the project. This father of four and grandfather to even more (baba means “grandfather” in several cultures) was hands-on in nearly all aspects, ranging from gathering the workers to specifying the systems to selecting the mosaics in the interior. — Diane M. Throw out any preconceived notions you may have about sport-fishing yachts—even large ones. III Amigos—a 94-footer from the consortium of boatbuilder Michael Rybovich, designer Patrick Knowles and an experienced owner—is far more mega-yacht than most fishing machines.

III Amigos was born in a peculiar fashion. Its owner, who spends 50 to 60 days a year fishing, first approached Rybovich but, before signing, asked Knowles to do a dizzying collection of realistic renderings to show the final result. Knowles had a solid knowledge base from working with the owner on previous yachts as well as the owner’s five homes and his business jet, so he had a good idea about where to start. — Chris Caswell, “The Sportfishing Superyacht: Rybovich 94

Ocean Alexander’s 28E enters uncharted waters as the first model in the Taiwanese builder’s new Explorer series. The 28E had its global debut at Australia’s 2022 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and was on display at the recent Fort Lauderdale show.

From the flybridge’s three socializing areas to the expandable multipurpose aft deck and two levels of accommodations, just about every space aboard the 28E is an invitation to relax and look around—and there’s certainly plenty to explore aboard the 28E.

At the 28E’s aft deck, Ocean Alexander has completely opened the space. There’s no covered beach club or stowage, but instead a 332-square-foot teak-covered area that gives guests and their toys easy access to the water. The space can be increased too, with fold-down bulwarks to port and to starboard, widening the 20-foot-8-inch beam to 26 feet, 10 inches. Two personal watercraft, two Seabobs and a 16-foot tender can be stowed here, alongside a 2,500-pound crane for launching.

The Evan K. Marshall-designed interiors have Poltrona Frau furniture, including an aft-facing L-shaped sofa for at least six people in the salon. Forward of the salon is a 10-seat dining table. The portside galley has stone countertops, JennAir appliances (a microwave, a cooktop and an oven) and a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator.

To starboard are the stairs to the sky lounge and the 28E’s helm station. There are three helm seats and Garmin electronics, including three 24-inch screens. Aft are a wet bar to starboard and a C-shaped sofa for at least four people, with a coffee table. Farther aft, through a sliding-glass door, there can be an eight-person dining table if owners want one. Far aft, owners can also opt for a hot tub with surrounding sun pads or two sofas.

Accommodations include a main-deck master stateroom, a forepeak VIP and two aft staterooms with queen berths, and two twin-berth guest staterooms to starboard. The master is highlighted by a single piece of curved glass above the king-size berth, for unbeatable sky views.

The Ocean Alexander 28E has twin 1,650 hp MAN V-12s as standard power, producing a reported 19.8-knot top hop. At 7 knots, the 28E can reportedly travel for nearly 2,100 nautical miles.

Ocean Alexander 37L
The Ocean Alexander 37L is the flagship of the Legend series. Ocean Alexander

The psychology behind the onboard lifestyle of a yacht’s owner and guests is an oft-studied subject. Every shipyard knows that success depends on the functionality, style and performance of its build. With its Legend series, Ocean Alexander and designer Evan K. Marshall have created yachts that perfectly encapsulate the triad of owner and guest preference: intimate entertaining, privacy and, of course, luxury. The flagship and largest of this series—the 37L—first debuted at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Hull No. 3 will appear at the 2023 Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show in February.

Exuding a modern yet classic aesthetic with attractive lines and a seaworthy Carolina flare, the Legend range is distinguished from other OA series first and foremost by its more-traditional styling, both in exterior profile and interior arrangement. Subtle consistencies in the fashion boards and window shapes stay true to the OA family lineage, but the next-generation design is apparent. This is not your grandfather’s yacht.

Large windows feature prominently aboard the trilevel 37L, bringing a contemporary appeal to the profile while flooding the interior with natural light that enhances the feeling of spaciousness within. The five-stateroom yacht graciously accommodates up to 10 guests within its interior, while five distinct exterior spaces offer multiple opportunities to enjoy life on the water.

A main-deck master stateroom is a frequent owner request, and the 37L offers a flexible arrangement in either a split-level or a single-level layout. Hull No. 3 features a split-level layout, with a large en suite with a tub, a shower, and dual vanities forward and down several steps in the bow. A night head is conveniently situated in the cleverly designed master lounge, just aft of the king-size bed that enjoys near-270-degree views from the vertical wraparound windows.

The large windows continue aft, following the wraparound side decks from the foredeck lounging area to the spacious aft deck, where a bar and a seating area with twin dinettes provide a comfortable and versatile environment for dining or relaxation. A spacious and air-conditioned beach club with a television and a wet bar is positioned in the stern, with comfortable proximity to the swim platform for enjoying the waterborne frivolity. Access to the crew quarters for five (or six with a couple) is conveniently positioned through multiple entries, including the beach club or the portside exterior deck.

Another traditional mark of the Legend series is the choice of materials offered for the interior. Through the electric sliding-glass doors from the aft deck, the main salon is highlighted by comfortable Paltrona Frau furniture and a rich selection of woods that evoke a nautical tone. Clients can choose from a selection of interior finishes offered by the Novus Dusk or Novus Mist decor packages; the 37L on display at the Miami yacht show will feature the Novus Dusk decor.

Ocean Alexander 37L

While the 37L offers multiple alfresco dining opportunities, the formal interior dining space will undoubtedly see plenty of use, thanks in part to the portside electric sliding door that accesses a fold-down balcony off this area. This space invites sunset cocktails, after-dinner drinks or the simple touch of a sea breeze to enjoy while dining at the large, 10-seat table.

In a word, the galley aboard the 37L is impressive. A true commercial-grade space, the fully equipped galley features plentiful storage with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, as well as a dedicated portside entry door for privacy, crew service and ease of provisioning.

Opposite the galley, stairs lead both down to the lower-deck accommodations and up to the bridge deck and wheelhouse one level above. Off the lower-deck foyer area housing an under-counter fridge/ice maker, four spacious en suite staterooms comprise two mirrored queen-size staterooms amidships and mirrored convertible twin staterooms forward. A private laundry facility with a commercial-grade washer and dryer, a freezer and a sink are situated farthest forward in the bow area—another thoughtful touch to facilitate unobtrusive crew service.

On the bridge deck, the wheelhouse is yet another impressive space, highlighted by triple electric leather-clad helm chairs and three 32-inch Garmin Black Box touchscreens for ease of charting and monitoring. Aft, the sky lounge features a day head, a refrigerator/ice maker, a games table and a lounging area, and can be closed off from the wheelhouse for privacy, while the bridge deck farthest aft offers an enviable space for relaxation and entertainment. Here, a sun awning provides additional shade when desired. The space is equipped with a full walk-behind bar with four bar stools, a 50-inch television, a U-shaped settee with a dinette, and plenty of open space aft for configuring loose furnishings to suit the entertainment. The opportunities for entertainment continue on the uppermost sky deck, which is fitted out with a five-person Jacuzzi, a U-shaped seating area with a dinette, and a bar-and-grill area with a 43-inch television.

Carefully designed to suit the lifestyle of the client who appreciates privacy, entertainment and luxury, the Ocean Alexander 37L is equipped with twin MTU 16V2000 engines of 2,600 bhp each and fitted with a global cruise-power conversion package alongside the stabilization and sound attenuation that is standard aboard all OA builds.
