Yachts come on and off the charter market all the time, all around the world. Every year, no matter the season, there are new builds that generate buzz, along with refits that bring new life to older options.
Heading into this summer’s charter season, though, quite a few yachts taking bookings are worthy of note. There are models in the mix that charter clients don’t usually see, along with experiences and destinations that are unusual.
For instance, the 162-foot Picchiotti Falco Moscata is back, now part of the Fraser fleet and with a new name from its days in charter as Exuma. This yacht won numerous awards after it launched in 2010 as the first motoryacht in a Picchiotti Vitruvius series from builder Perini Navi and designer Philippe Briand. It’s a yacht that won’t look like any other in the marina or harbor this summer in the Mediterranean, including bookings in Greece.
Also available is the 116-foot Ocean Alexander Entrepreneur, which just joined the Ocean Independence charter fleet in Florida and the Bahamas. This yacht is the builder’s 35R, a model that premiered this past fall at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida. The odds of bumping into another 35R in the same location are pretty much zero.
Also new to the Ocean Independence fleet is Halcyon, one of the first Sanlorenzo 112s to become available for charter. It’s offering itineraries not only in the Bahamas and Caribbean but also in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez.
Want an even more exclusive destination? Yachting Partners International just added the 180-foot Berge to its charter fleet, calling the boat “the first and only luxury charter yacht to cruise on the Nile.” Go ahead: Try to think of the last time you saw any charter yacht advertised in that location.
Also accepting bookings this summer is the 134-foot Benetti Northern Escape, as part of Edmiston’s fleet in the Mediterranean. This yacht is a new-for-2022 Oasis, a model that Benetti just introduced with delivery of Hull No. 1 at the end of 2020.
No matter the style or locale clients want, the charter fleet keeps growing to offer it.
Baba’s
The 184-foot Hargrave Baba’s is expected to charter this summer in the West Mediterranean. This yacht is the flagship of the Hargrave Custom Yachts fleet, delivered in 2020 to an owner who was a four-time Hargrave buyer. Fraser manages the yacht for charter at a lowest summer weekly base rate of about $386,200. Features include two hot tubs (on the sun deck and at the beach club), three alfresco dining areas and an elevator that serves all the decks.
Komodo
Charter clients eager to buzz around the Balearic Islands in Spain can book the 77-foot Azimut Komodo, which just joined the Yachting Partners International charter fleet. The yacht has an extendable swim platform that’s big enough for practicing yoga or gearing up for scuba diving. Seating at the bow with a collapsible Bimini top affords guests extra privacy if the yacht is docked stern-to at a marina. A barbecue is on the main deck for relaxed dining.
