The 2022 Horizon Yachts E81, Valiant, is listed with OneWater Yacht Group and it just saw a $590,000 price drop. The new asking price is $4.99 million. This cruise-ready, family-size skylounge motor yacht has a three-stateroom, three-head layout, an office, a day head and low hours on its Caterpillar diesels.

Stepping into the cockpit guests will immediately notice the alfresco dining space. There’s seating for up to eight with a three-person sofa set against the transom, a fixed table and loose chairs.

Stairs to port lead to the 81-footer’s skylounge. The outdoor space aft has real estate to stow a tender. This vessel’s tender is a 2021 Walker Bay Venture 14 Dinghy with a 70 hp Yamaha outboard, and it’s included with the sale. There is also a grill, a wet bar, an L-shaped settee and two lounge chairs. The skylounge is accessed via a glass door. A three-person bar with fixed stools and a fold-down flat-screen TV are to port with a C-shaped booth with a table directly across. The two-seat helm station is forward and to starboard and has clean sightlines.

Sliding glass doors off the cockpit lead to an open-plan salon. Seating in the salon includes a U-shaped settee and coffee table to starboard and two lounge chairs to port, creating a comfortable spot for casual conversation. All the way forward is an open country galley. There are unobstructed views from the sliding glass doors through to the country galley.

The galley is equipped with a Sub-Zero 424 wine cooler, a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and Jenn-Air appliances, including a refrigerator, electric cooktop and a microwave/convection oven, everything a cruising family needs for prepping meals large and small. A U-shaped dinette with glass table is forward and there are a pair of stools for overflow at the galley’s countertop.

The Horizon E81’s three staterooms and office are all belowdecks. The owners’ stateroom is amidships with a king-size berth and an en suite head, which has an inlaid porcelain sink, marble countertops and backsplashes, and marble soles in all the heads and shower rooms. The forepeak VIP has a centerline queen berth and an en suite head. There is a starboard guest stateroom with twin berths and an en suite head. The office space is to port and forward of the master stateroom.

Wide teak side decks with high bulwarks safely transit guests from the cockpit to the foredeck, which has a U-shaped settee and fixed table abaft a two-person sun pad with a backrest. If it gets too hot, simply pull the sun shade out. This space offers a quiet getaway from noise at the quay.

Twin 1,700 hp Caterpillar C32 diesels provide power for Valiant, giving it a reported 26-knot top hop. At a reported 21-knot cruising speed, the big diesels burn 140 gallons per hour. Dial back the throttles to a displacement cruising speed of 10 knots, and fuel burn falls off precipitously to a miserly 28 gallons per hour. At 10 knots, range is about 707 nautical miles when considering a 10 percent reserve on the E81’s 2,200-gallon fuel capacity. At cruise speed, range is about 297 nautical miles.

Built for extended open-water cruising, the Horizon Yachts E81 is constructed via the SCRIMP infusion process with high-density foam core for the bottom, topsides and engine stringers. All of the yacht’s interior structural components are bonded to the hull. The end result is a stout, bluewater build without excessive weight that enhances overall performance.

Valiant comes with a full Garmin suite of navigation electronics, including three GPSMAP 8622 22-inch Glass Bridge MFDs with g3 Charts, two SD Card Readers, an HDMI Cable for GPSMAP to display on TV’s, a GSD 25 Premium Sonar Module, a Chirp-M, a Bronze LP 12 tilt, GMR Fantom 126 radar with 6-foot Array, a GMR 24 xHD 4KW, a 24-inch closed dome, autopilot and more.

Other notable features on board Valiant include a GOST Apparition Security monitoring and surveillance package, two 29 kW/60 Hz Onan generators and a hydraulic swim platform.

Horizon Yachts FD110 Trideck Reviewed https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/horizon-fd110-trideck-reviewed/ Fri, 27 Oct 2023 18:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=61267 Mansion-type volume, a seakindly hull form and a 3,000-nautical-mile range define the Horizon Yachts FD110 Trideck.

Horizon Yachts’ Fast Displacement yacht series, penned by designer Cor D. Rover, is notable for its broad shoulders and high freeboard. These yachts carry measurable beam forward to enhance interior and exterior volume, with a wave-splitting bow design and admirable performance across a wide spectrum of speeds.

The latest launch in the series, which runs from 75 feet to 125 feet length overall, is the FD110 Tri-Deck. In profile, this yacht is nicely balanced across its three well-proportioned levels. Rover uses all available real estate not only to carry exterior lines evenly, but also to get the most out of the living and stowage spaces. Structural glass across all decks helps to lower the vessel’s profile visually while providing natural light inside.

As just one example of how large the interior feels, the salon has a whopping 87-inch TV in the after starboard quarter, and the screen seems small. Side sliding doors measuring 71 inches high provide ocean vistas from the formal dining space. Blackout curtains help control lighting and privacy.

Horizon Yachts FD110 Trideck lounge
This lounge and hot tub with a view are just forward of the pilothouse. Courtesy Horizon Yachts

A plush L-shaped sofa to port is accented by a tiered coffee table and several barrel chairs. Each seat has a view of the TV. Low-profile cabinetry housing the china divides the salon from the wood dining table that seats 10 on high-back, swivel chairs. With an open design concept, the entire area is airy, welcoming and set up for entertaining.

The interior is contemporary and warm, aided in part by washed wenge wood with oak and walnut accents. Want something different? The builder offers owners a high level of customization when it comes to woods, finishes, furnishings and the like.

Forward, the galley can be closed off during provisioning and meal prep, and then opened for service. That means closing not only the doorways, but also the center counter facing the salon, where an actuated opaque glass wall can be raised and lowered. Eight fridge and freezer drawers, along with a full-height refrigerator, allow plenty of space for provisions for extended voyages. A Miele four-burner cooktop and convection oven, a Wolf microwave and a dishwasher are here, with stowage that includes a 78-inch-high pullout pantry. A center island adds counter space for prep and plating.

An on-deck master stateroom is forward with a centerline king berth, a starboard sofa and, to port, a lighted vanity that doubles as a desk. This space is a whisper-quiet escape from the crowd. Rectangular side windows flank the berth, bringing in natural light and providing unobstructed ocean views. Forward is the his-and-hers head with a central rain shower.

Guest accommodations include four staterooms belowdecks that are accessed by a single staircase and foyer. Mirrored VIP staterooms with queen berths are amidships with 32-inch TVs and en suite heads. Hullside windows with portholes allow light into the lower deck. Stowage is in drawers, vanities, walk-in closets and nightstands.

The guest stateroom to port has twin berths that slide together for couples, an en suite head and a 32-inch flat-screen TV. A VIP guest stateroom is in the forepeak with a queen berth and an en suite head.

There are options for the stateroom locations, as well as crew quarters. Crew spaces can be abaft the engine room or forward of the guest staterooms, which means removing the VIP. In either configuration, there’s a captain’s cabin and two twin-berth cabins for crew, all en suite. Another nice touch is the yacht’s separate laundry room with a Miele washer and dryer, counter space for folding, and stowage for supplies.

The seemingly endless-space concept hits stride on the yacht’s aft deck. Surrounding a teak dining table are a transom bench seat and three cushioned sofas. A two-tiered bar with twin fixed bar stools to starboard is an elegant inclusion.

Up in the pilothouse on the sky-lounge deck, three Stidd helm chairs allow the captain and crew, or guests, to keep eyes on the operations. The helm console has four 24-inch Garmin GPSMap multifunction displays, Simrad autopilot, two Garmin VHF radios, PTZ cameras and more. Side doors lead to the deck wing stations for docking. Abaft the helm seats is a sofa for more guests to enjoy the bird’s-eye view of the surroundings.

Abaft the pilothouse—which can be closed off with pocket doors and a high-low privacy screen—is the sky lounge. Relaxing on the L-shaped sofa or barrel chairs, guests will find a cozy space for an afternoon nap or to catch the game on the 55-inch TV. A wine chiller is here, along with a unit housing a fridge, a freezer, an ice maker and a sink. A day head is in the after corner.

Out the aft doors is yet another lounge area with a sofa and a table, and room for personal watercraft on dedicated cradles. For more water-toy space, there is a 2,500-pound-capacity hydraulic swim platform, as well as a 2,500-pound davit. To make room for all that gear and tender management, Horizon put the hot tub forward of the pilothouse. Guests can relax under the sun on U-shaped settees or oversize sun pads with an awning for shade.

The top deck is dedicated to entertaining. A round sun pad is forward, with an L-shaped sofa under the integrated radar arch and hardtop. An after sun pad is set up for additional guests. A wet bar with a fridge and an ice maker reduces the number of trips below for refreshments.

When it comes to performance, the FD110 is powered by twin 1,900 hp Caterpillar C32A diesel engines that propel its 348,330 pounds up to 18.6 knots at wide open. Cruising at 14 knots, the engines burn 100 gph, providing an effective range of 763 nautical miles. The fast-displacement design lets the FD110 cruise comfortably between 8 and 16 knots. At 16 knots, range is about 600 nm. At 10 knots, the FD110 has an effective range of more than 2,000 nm. Dial it back to 8 knots, and the range jumps to more than 3,000 nm.

With striking lines, impressive spaces, efficient operation and a high level of customization, the Horizon FD110 Tri-Deck can take owners anywhere they want to point the bow, in comfort and luxury.

Skyline Option

If owners prefer a different look and layout, Horizon offers the FD110 in a Skyline option. That version has an enclosed pilothouse and no upper deck. The overall displacement is reduced by about 20,000 pounds, and draft goes from 5 feet, 11 inches in the Tri-Deck version to 5 feet, 9 inches in the Skyline.

Ready for Fun

Geared for owners who are active in watersports, or for a similar charter program, the FD110 can handle an array of toys: personal watercraft, paddleboards, underwater scooters and more. Access to the water is via the hydraulic swim platform, making it easy to jump on the toys and go.

A Hull of a Boat

Horizon’s bow design, called the High Performance Piercing Bow, doesn’t just push the water away; it slices through it. This feature, along with the hybrid hull shape and prop-tunnel design, improves the FD110’s fuel efficiency and range of cruising speeds.

RJC Yachts has welcomed the 82-foot Horizon Qara to the charter fleet. This is the first time the 2001 build will be offered for charter, following a refit earlier this year.

Qara will be based year-round in the US and British Virgin Islands, with accommodations for six guests in three staterooms. The captain is Mark Sperber, a native of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. He’ll oversee the charters along with two additional crew.

Tenders and toys aboard Qara include a 27-foot Sea Hunt, a two-person, see-through kayak, a pair of sea scooters, standup paddleboards, and snorkeling and fishing gear.

The inclusive weekly rate to charter Qara is $42,000.

How is an inclusive charter rate different from a lowest weekly base rate? An inclusive rate typically includes meals, ship’s bar and other incidentals such as taxes and fees.

Horizon FD100 ‘Sea-renity’ Ready for Bahamas Charters https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/cruising-and-chartering/horizon-sea-renity-bahamas-charter/ Mon, 17 Jul 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=60569 This brand-new charter yacht has a striking interior decor.

It’s always a good day when a new build becomes available for charter, giving guests a chance to check out the latest offering from a prominent builder. That’s the story of Sea-renity, a Horizon FD100 that is marketed as a 2023 build and is now based in the Bahamas for charter inquiries throughout the summer season.

This particular FD100 has an interior that’s unusual, with a substantial amount of light wood that’s paired with black accent items throughout all the guest spaces. The decor was created by the Miami-based JAC design studio. “A lot of boats these days, it’s grays or blues and greens. This is different,” says Sarah Egger, charter manager with Fraser.

Horizon FD100
Sea-renity has an unusual combination of light wood that’s used extensively throughout the interior, with black accent items ranging from pillows to trays and tables. Courtesy Fraser

At an industry charter-yacht show in the Bahamas earlier this year, brokers also commented about how large the boat felt compared with others that are the same length overall. The extensive use of glazing certainly contributes to that ambience, as does the combination of decor and overall design. “The space on the inside, the volume, it seems much bigger than it is,” Egger adds. “I think it’s the lightness, but it’s also the build. That Horizon has a wider beam.”

Horizon FD100
Accommodations are for 10 guests. There’s a king-berth stateroom, three staterooms with queen berths, and one stateroom that can be set up as twins or a fourth queen. Courtesy Fraser

As of this writing, Sea-renity had just completed its first few charters with friends of the owners on board, and the new owners had used it as well. Egger says a few of the favorite spaces are the yacht’s three bars—one in the beach club, one on the aft deck and one on the bridge deck next to the hot tub—along with the Portuguese seating and sunning space forward of the bridge. There’s also a beach club aft, which Egger says the owners are planning to fill with an increasing number of water toys. A towed tender is also in the works.

Sea-renity itself has a cruising speed of 13 knots and a top hop of 20 knots, which should be plenty fast for zipping around the Bahamas in style.

The Horizon FD100

This is a current model available for orders with Horizon Yachts. It can be built as a skyline or tri-deck, which means either an enclosed sky lounge or an open flybridge, respectively. The designer of the Horizon FD100 is Cor D. Rover, whose other work includes yachts as large as the 220-foot Benetti Seasense. He has been working with Horizon Yachts since 2012. As a team, Rover’s studio and Horizon count more than 60 yachts either built or in build now.

Horizon’s PC60 packs the utility and amenities of a 100-foot monohull into a 60-foot power catamaran. It can have four staterooms, including a main-deck master; can hold a 14-foot center-console on the upper deck; and can host at least 20 guests for parties. Guests can dine inside at the coffee table that switches to a dining table with an L-shaped settee, in the cockpit with a flybridge overhang or on the bridge deck with a grill. The PC60 can do 23 knots. At 9 knots, range is nearly 1,500 nautical miles. As of May 2023, six PC60s were available, ranging from $1,999,999 to $2,695,000.

From the Archive

“Being a catamaran, the PC60 has a wide beam (nearly 25 feet), and the builder takes advantage of every inch of volume. You can invite 20 friends for a party aboard, and there’s elbowroom to spare, even if you only use the main deck. There’s seating for everyone too. The PC60’s twin-hull design also means exceptional stability, which allows you to have loose chairs, even on the flybridge, without worrying.”

Horizon Power Catamarans will debut its redesigned PC60 at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The updated power cat has a new flybridge, and, depending on configuration, it can come with either three or four staterooms.

Owners can choose between either what Horizon calls an On-Deck Master layout or an Open Salon layout. A PC60 with an On-Deck Master layout will be on display at FLIBS.

Regardless of configuration, though, the updated flybridge is a focal point of the new PC60. There is now a day-head here, in addition to the enclosed, air-conditioned space with an on-centerline helm station, a full bar, U-shaped seating to port with a dinette and enough space aft for a 17-foot tender with a 100 hp engine.

In the On-Deck Master layout, the full-beam master is forward of the salon and galley on the main deck. The galley, with Miele appliances, Scotsman ice-makers, Corian stone options and a bar with four bar stools, is to starboard; to port is L-shaped seating with a dinette. Aft and outside is forward-facing seating and a dining table that can serve six. This layout places another master and a twin-berth stateroom in the portside hull; in the starboard hull, there can be an en suite VIP or a utility room/office.

The Open Salon layout has a galley with an island bar and wraparound lounging real estate that’s forward and beneath semi-panoramic windows. There are three staterooms in this layout, with a VIP and a convertible twin-berth stateroom in the portside hull. The master takes up the entirety of the starboard hull.

What are the power options for the Horizon PC60? Standard power is twin 800 hp MAN i6 engines, and owners can opt for 850 hp engines.
