Windy Boats has launched a sports cruiser that combines getaway speed with creature comforts above and belowdecks. The 40 Camira RS is the latest model in the Sweden-based builder’s Classic Sports Cruiser Series. At 40 feet length overall, this yacht is the largest model in the series, which includes seven other boats starting at 27 feet long. Hans Jørgen Johnsen penned the vessel’s hull form, and interior design and styling are by Design Unlimited.

The cockpit of the 40 Camira RS has a flexible setup that’s suitable for easy water access, lounging and alfresco meals. Here, owners can choose either white or black for furniture colors. Beneath the aft-facing sun pad for at least two people, there is stowage to hold underwater scooters, paddleboards and Fliteboards. Windy says integrated charging and a compressed air pump are here too.

For more privacy, owners of the 40 Camira RS can add a door leading to the forepeak lounge. Here, the space can have a dedicated berth or a convertible sofa. Courtesy Windy Boats

Take two steps up on the port side, and there is forward-facing bench seating separated from the aft sun pad by a backrest. It’s opposite an L-shaped settee to starboard. A dining table connects the whole space. The table can be lowered with a filler cushion to expand the 40 Camira RS’ relaxation possibilities. Additionally, there is an aft-facing sun bed to port. Windy says a cockpit wet bar is optional. This entire space is protected by a full-beam T-top with a sunroof.

The two-seat helm station is to starboard; to port, there is a single companion seat. Four centerline steps adjacent to the helm station lead to the bow, where there is another sun pad with backrests that can be elevated.

Belowdecks, the 40 Camira RS has U-shaped seating in the forepeak that converts to a double berth. Owners have the option to make this sofa a permanent berth. To starboard near amidships, there is a TV, and abaft it there is a head with a separate shower. The galley is to port. In the after portside corner, owners can opt for more stowage and appliances, or for a cabin with double berths.

The 40 Camira RS’ lower deck aft can be outfitted with additional appliances, such as coffee machines or wine chillers. Alternatively, owners can opt for an additional stateroom with double berths, ideally for kids. Courtesy Windy Boats

The 40 Camira RS comes with twin inboard power, and 440 hp Volvo Penta D6 DPI diesels are the largest option. The builder reports a top hop of 44 knots. Twin 400 hp Volvos and twin 370 hp Yanmars are also available. Another version of the Camira, the SX, comes with outboard options, including triple 300 hp Yamahas or twin 450 hp Yamahas.

Aquila’s 47 Molokai Is Bigger and Better https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/new-yachts-aquila-47-molokai/ Tue, 12 Dec 2023 20:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=61480 The Aquila 47 Molokai is a fishing-focused, fast powercat with overnight accommodations.

Versatility is at the heart of the 47 Molokai, which will be the second and larger offering in the Aquila Power Catamarans Offshore range. The vessel measures 49 feet, 4 inches length overall with a 14-foot-7-inch beam. The center-console design builds on the offshore-fishing foundations laid by the 28 Molokai while enhancing entertainment abilities and granting weekending opportunities for a couple.

For anglers, the 47 Molokai has 16 rod holders mounted on the gunwales, another 10 at the bow, six at the transom, eight on the hardtop and four welded into the grab rails just abaft the second-row helm seating. Aquila conceals a tackle stowage box, and a bait- and tackle-rigging station in the backrests of the three-person aft-facing mezzanine seating. Anglers also have tackle-box stowage beneath the second-row helm seating and to port. There are flush-mounted stowage lockers to port and starboard.

Standard power for the Aquila 47 Molokai is twin 600 hp Mercury V-12s, and there is an option for quad 400 hp Mercury V-10s. Courtesy Aquila Power Catamarans

Aft, there are two 42.5-gallon transom livewells by Hooker Electric. Here, there is also stowage with a lid on the outboard side of each livewell, and owners heading out for big game can opt to convert these compartments into tuna tubes. The 47 Molokai  has two 90-gallon in-deck fish boxes, each with dedicated macerator pump-outs.

Aquila’s 47 Molokai has a single cabin with a queen-size berth, a wet head and two entrances. Above, there’s an acrylic ceiling window and two manually opening hatches. Courtesy Aquila Power Catamarans

Whereas the 28 Molokai had seating for eight, including its two helm seats, the 47 Molokai has seating for 17 throughout the yacht: 14 forward-facing and three aft-facing positions. There are two foldaway stern bench seats that can seat two people each, in addition to the two rows of seven total helm seats and three foredeck lounge seats. Forward of this seating, there is a sun pad.

Abaft the cockpit’s aft-facing seating, there is a table, but it’s removed if owners choose an outdoor cooking setup instead of the seats. In either configuration, owners will have a place to stow drinks and snacks here, with insulated coolers beneath the seating.

The bow of the Aquila 47 Molokai has two 74-gallon insulated coffin boxes and 60-gallon stowage between the two boxes. There are also 10 rod holders here, five on either side of the forward-facing lounge seats. Courtesy Aquila Power Catamarans

The 47 Molokai has a double-stepped hull design that Aquila says provides better handling and stability, and reduces drag. The hull, deck and cockpit sole are infused with vinylester resin, and there’s an infused-fiberglass structural grid. Primary forward and aft bulkheads are made of carbon fiber, while the secondary bulkheads are vinylester-resin-infused. The 47 Molokai’s hardtop is made of carbon fiber.

Scout Boats’ latest flagship aims to impress in more ways than one. When describing the 67 LX Series, the South Carolina-based builder coined the phrase “Expect everything.” This five-outboard owner-operator center-console is capable of offshore angling adventures and entertaining guests from the stern to the bow (even belowdecks), and it has a reported eye-watering 52-knot speed. Scout also says the 67 is beachable. It will be offered in three versions: Sport (which will be the first version built), Sportfish and Cruise.

Forward and beneath the hardtop, there is a settee with a dinette across from additional seating for one or two. This space can be connected with the interior by lowering the window forward. Inside, there is a bar with three stools. The galley is to starboard and abaft two of four helm seats. It’s equipped with two refrigerator/freezer drawers, a two-burner cooktop, a microwave convection oven and a sink. Across from the galley is a U-shaped lounge with a dining table and a flip-down 40-inch TV.

Belowdecks, there are three staterooms and what Scout calls a “theater room.” This approximately 66-square-foot space has a settee to starboard that converts to an additional berth. Also in the theater room are a 32-to-43-inch TV, a beverage center, a refrigerator and an ottoman. Lighting can be controlled by overhead and hullside power blinds. To port is the day head, which can also be accessed via the portside VIP stateroom. A twin-berth guest stateroom is to starboard and aft. The forepeak master has an island queen berth.

Power for the Scout 67 LXS is five 600 hp Mercury Verado V-12 engines. Scout says cruising speed is approximately 40 knots, and range is 400 nautical miles.

Rigged-and-Ready Cockpit

The cockpit on Hull No. 1 of the semicustom 67 LXS will have two livewells, a built-in seat with stowage aft, and aft-facing seating forward. Owners can add stowage, an ice chest, a cooktop and a sink. Deployable side decks increase the 13-foot-3-inch beam to 19 feet, 5 inches.

Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, and with different powers, such as super speed and teleportation. While the Princess X80 can’t turn back time by reversing the planet’s rotation, it does have some superpowers of its own. The newest and second entry in the X Class is characterized by what the British builder calls a “super flybridge.” That, combined with a reported 31-knot top hop and an optional 2,324-gallon fuel tank, means the X80 can actually teleport its owner and guests to another world.

Atop the “super flybridge”—which Princess says has more than 30 percent more space compared with other flybridge yachts of this length—there are four gathering spaces. Aft, there are two stern-facing L-shaped settees with two coffee tables (the portside sofa can also face forward). Forward in the portside corner, there is another L-shaped settee accompanied by four free-standing chairs surrounding a dining table. A wet bar is to starboard.

Moving inside, there is a sofa to starboard and a single centerline helm seat forward, with companion seating to port. Forward on the flybridge, there are two sun pads that can hold three guests each.

The main deck is dedicated to socializing, with a forward-facing C-shaped settee and a folding teak dining table in the cockpit. In the salon, an L-shaped settee and a coffee table are to port. An additional, smaller sofa is to starboard, with a 55-inch TV abaft it.

The galley is forward and to starboard. Here, there are Miele appliances, including a four-burner cooktop, a microwave/convection oven and grill, a full-height fridge, a freezer, a dishwasher and an ice maker atop wood soles. An additional dining space can be found forward of the galley, along with an L-shaped settee and free-standing chairs. There is also a day head on the main deck, located to port and across from the galley.

The Princess X80 is powered by twin 1,900 hp MAN V-12 engines, producing a reported top speed between 29 and 31 knots. Owners can also opt for an expanded, 2,324-gallon fuel tank for longer bluewater voyages. Courtesy Princess Yachts

Accommodations belowdecks are for eight guests in four en suite staterooms. The master stateroom is amidships and full-beam, with a vanity to port and a sofa to starboard. Its head and the closet are abaft a double berth, mitigating noise from the engine room. Forward of the master are a twin-berth guest stateroom to port, a double-berth  guest stateroom to starboard and a forepeak VIP. An optional main-deck master comes with a private sun deck.

Galeon Yachts’ Midsize Flybridge Yacht https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/new-yachts-galeon-440-fly/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=61022 The 30-knot Galeon Yachts 440 Fly is for owners who want to escape with their families—quickly.

Galeon Yachts’ new 440 Fly is aimed at cruising families. It joins nine other flybridge models ranging from 41 to 83 feet length overall. This near-46-footer made its North America debut at the Miami International Boat Show earlier this year.

In addition to having room for the family, the 440 Fly is a capable entertaining vessel. Fold-down side decks to port and starboard transform this yacht’s cockpit into a beach club, increasing the 13-foot-8-inch beam by 7 feet. Alfresco activities are further encouraged by a wet bar with a grill, a sink and stowage. An L-shaped settee with a wooden dinette is forward and under the flybridge overhang, protected from the elements.

Sun soakers can gather at the foredeck sun pad that’s sized for at least three people. Or, they can congregate on the flybridge, where there is more seating than in the cockpit and salon combined. An L-shaped settee corrals an elongated wooden dinette for outdoor snacks and meals. The helm station is forward with seating for the skipper and a mate, and there is additional companion seating to port. Between that companion seating and the stairs aft, owners can opt to place a wet bar with a sink, a fridge and a grill.

Inside on the main deck, the salon has a C-shaped settee with a wooden dinette to starboard, across from a two-seat sofa. Abaft the sofa is a hidden 32-inch TV. One step up from this gathering space are the helm station to starboard with side-deck access, and the galley to port with Corian countertops, a two-burner cooktop, a stainless-steel sink, a microwave and a fridge.

Belowdecks accommodations are flexible. Galeon offers a two-stateroom option and a pair of three-stateroom setups. In the two-stateroom configuration, there is a forepeak VIP with a step-up berth and an en suite head to port. The master stateroom is full-beam and amidships. The 440 Fly’s “traditional” three-stateroom layout reduces the size of the full-beam master to make room for a guest stateroom to starboard, and adds a twin-berth guest stateroom to port. In the “standard” three-stateroom setup, a guest stateroom with bunks is located to port, and the head is moved to starboard. This change consumes more of the forepeak VIP space, shifting its berth into an offset position to starboard.

Power for the 440 Fly is twin 440 hp Volvo Penta D6 engines. Galeon says the top speed is 30 knots, and cruising speed is 25 knots—which should be plenty fast to get the whole family feeling the wind in their hair.

Fast Facts

  • The 440 Fly’s full-beam, amidships master has a queen-size berth.
  • Cabinetry throughout the 440 Fly can be ordered in Dark Walnut Matte or Beachwood Matte.
  • The 440 Fly’s cockpit’s L-shaped settee can convert to a sun pad.

Thrill-seekers, rejoice. Wally’s new wallypower58X combines the luxury and comfort of the inboard wallypower58 (which debuted at last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival) with the muscle of outboard power. Using quad 600 hp Mercury Verado V-12 engines, the Italian builder says the wallypower58X can reach 50 knots and can cruise at 42 knots for 320 nautical miles. This 57-footer made its world debut at the recent Palm Beach International Boat Show.

While the outboard engines will garner most boaters’ initial looks, the rest of the after section of the wallypower58X has a lot to offer. Here, there’s a four-person sun pad with cushions that allows for forward-facing seating or aft-facing lounging by the sea. At the touch of a button, an electrically actuated awning rises to provide protection from the elements. This space is further enhanced when the bulwarks to port and starboard fold outward, creating a 269-square-foot beach club with room for modular furniture and guests.

Whether it’s at the sun lounge on the foredeck, the beach club aft or the “double salon” belowdecks, the wallypower58X can host up to 16 people across its various relaxation zones. Courtesy Wally

And, like the wallytender48X and wallytender43X siblings, the wallypower58X has a hydraulic passerelle on centerline for easy boarding.

Farther forward, there are two sofas beneath the cockpit hardtop: one to starboard and one to port. The starboard-side seating is accompanied by a dinette. Forward of the portside seating, there is a customizable galley. Here, the hardtop can open for ventilation, or, for chillier outings, the cockpit can be fully enclosed and heated.

wallypower58X outboards

Follow the side decks forward, and there is an additional sun lounge on the foredeck. In total, Wally says, 12 to 16 people can comfortably fit on the wallypower58X’s main deck.

Standard accommodations belowdecks include a forepeak master stateroom with a queen-size berth and an en suite head to starboard. Centerline stairs lead down from the main deck to what Wally calls a “full-beam double salon” with sofas to port and starboard. The day head, with a separate shower, is to port. Owners can also opt to convert the portside salon into a guest stateroom that has direct access to the day head.

Standard accommodations for the wallypower58X sleep two people in this forepeak master stateroom. Owners can opt for a portside guest stateroom to bring another couple for day adventures and weekends on the salt. Courtesy Wally

To maintain the brand’s trademark exterior lines, and for further protection and privacy, this boat has what Wally calls magic portholes: 55-inch flat-screen TVs that relay external views via hullside cameras.

Turkish builder Vicem Yachts proves that traditional styling is still in vogue with the 65 Classic Flybridge. The 66-footer has downeast lines, is available in fiberglass and cold-molded versions, can speed away when necessary, and has modern liveaboard comforts.

From the cockpit, the flybridge is accessed via starboard-side stairs. Up top, C-shaped seating converts to a sun pad. Two wooden dinettes are nearby for snacks, drinks or meals. Abaft this settee is an aft-facing sun pad for two. To starboard, there is a wet bar with a barbecue, a sink and a fridge/freezer to assist with alfresco entertaining. Forward of the wet bar is the two-seat upper helm station with twin 17-inch Garmin displays.

On the main deck, the teak cockpit has an L-shaped settee in the after portside corner. It’s accompanied by a wooden dinette. Forward and to port are two Besenzoni bar stools shaded by the flybridge, and connected via a frameless electric window to the salon, bar and sink inside.

The salon has an L-shaped settee to port with a coffee table. To starboard, there are cabinets and enough space for two free-standing chairs that won’t impede anyone’s ability to walk forward to the lower helm station, which has two Garmin screens and a door that provides side-deck access for easier docking.

Belowdecks, the 65 Classic Flybridge is flexible. The standard layout includes two en suite staterooms: a full-beam amidships master with a king-size berth and a forward VIP. Separating the two staterooms is a space that the builder calls a dining and lounge area, which has a head. With a sliding door, the overall space converts to a third en suite guest stateroom.

The 65 Classic Flybridge’s galley is also belowdecks, to port. It has a four-burner cooktop, cabinets, a sink and a microwave across from an L-shaped countertop.

In terms of the yacht’s exterior looks, Vicem says a light-blue hull has been the most popular paint selection, but colors are customizable.

Standard motors are 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 straight-shaft diesels. With optional Volvo Penta IPS1350 diesels, the builder reports a 32-knot top-end speed and a 26-knot cruising speed. Additional features include a hydraulic swim platform and four 630-amp lithium batteries that provide more than 15 hours of operating time at anchor.

Dayboat performance combined with weekending possibilities? That’s what Sunseeker has achieved with the newest addition to its Performance line. The Superhawk 55 has a reported 38-knot top hop by way of twin 725 hp Volvo Penta IPS950 engines and can sleep four people in two staterooms. The boat made its US debut at the recent Miami International Boat Show, with more than 50 units sold already.

The Superhawk 55’s dayboat functionality is immediately apparent when guests step on board via the 6-by-15-foot swim platform and up two steps into the 188-square-foot cockpit. Here, there is an aft sun pad and two aft-facing settees surrounding an expandable table. This gathering space also has a wet bar forward with a sink, a refrigerator, an ice maker and a grill. Owners can also opt for a 43-inch 4K television with Apple TV and Airplay that can hide away in the wet bar. Beneath the sun pad, there is a garage that can hold a Williams Minijet tender or water toys.

Owners and special guests alike will have roomy accommodations on the Superhawk 55, with a 123-square-foot, full-beam stateroom amidships as well as a 105-square-foot forepeak stateroom. Each stateroom has a 43-inch 4K television with Apple TV and Airplay, and a double berth. The aft stateroom can be ordered with twin berths instead, for families with kids.

New toys tend to be exciting to play with. In Prestige Yachts’ latest launch, the M48, there is a lot of new. For starters, the M48 is the French builder’s first model in its M-Line, marking Prestige Yachts’ foray into the multihull market. Then, consider the various belowdecks layouts and interior-design options that let owners make the yacht as personalized as they want.

Starting at the top, the M48 has a 215-square-foot flybridge with a portside helm station. Here, the skipper can access Volvo Penta instrumentation and two 16-inch touchscreen displays. Adjacent to the helm station, there is companion seating for at least two. Abaft are a wooden dinette with an L-shaped settee and a sun pad.

Guests can take the portside stairs down from the flybridge to the main deck, arriving in the 140-square-foot cockpit. There is seating in each of the cockpit’s four corners: aft in forward-facing L-shaped settees with tables, and flanking the sliding glass door to the yacht’s interior. Three steps down from the cockpit is a 54-square-foot central lifting platform with 17-square-foot side platforms to port and starboard.

Inside, the galley is to starboard with a stainless-steel sink, an electric microwave and oven, a three-burner induction cooktop, a 47-gallon fridge and an 11-gallon freezer. To port for easy service, there is U-shaped seating around a dining table.

Some guests can head down to their belowdecks accommodations via stairs to port. The VIP stateroom and one guest stateroom are here, along with the day head. Both of these staterooms have twin berths that combine to create doubles.

Forward of the galley, another set of stairs to starboard leads belowdecks to a space that owners can customize. They can choose a master stateroom or two twin-berth guest staterooms. In the master configuration, the head is split into two areas, with a shower to port and a toilet to starboard. The master stateroom also has a lounge and a desk with drawers, making the space a good spot to hide out and read or get some work done at anchor.

Power is twin 320 hp Volvo Penta D4s paired to V-drives. Prestige Yachts says the yacht’s top-end speed is 20 knots; cruising speed is 16 knots with a 240-nautical-mile range; and at 8 knots, the M48 is capable of cruising for 600 nautical miles.

Ocean Alexander’s 28E enters uncharted waters as the first model in the Taiwanese builder’s new Explorer series. The 28E had its global debut at Australia’s 2022 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and was on display at the recent Fort Lauderdale show.

From the flybridge’s three socializing areas to the expandable multipurpose aft deck and two levels of accommodations, just about every space aboard the 28E is an invitation to relax and look around—and there’s certainly plenty to explore aboard the 28E.

At the 28E’s aft deck, Ocean Alexander has completely opened the space. There’s no covered beach club or stowage, but instead a 332-square-foot teak-covered area that gives guests and their toys easy access to the water. The space can be increased too, with fold-down bulwarks to port and to starboard, widening the 20-foot-8-inch beam to 26 feet, 10 inches. Two personal watercraft, two Seabobs and a 16-foot tender can be stowed here, alongside a 2,500-pound crane for launching.

The Evan K. Marshall-designed interiors have Poltrona Frau furniture, including an aft-facing L-shaped sofa for at least six people in the salon. Forward of the salon is a 10-seat dining table. The portside galley has stone countertops, JennAir appliances (a microwave, a cooktop and an oven) and a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator.

To starboard are the stairs to the sky lounge and the 28E’s helm station. There are three helm seats and Garmin electronics, including three 24-inch screens. Aft are a wet bar to starboard and a C-shaped sofa for at least four people, with a coffee table. Farther aft, through a sliding-glass door, there can be an eight-person dining table if owners want one. Far aft, owners can also opt for a hot tub with surrounding sun pads or two sofas.

Accommodations include a main-deck master stateroom, a forepeak VIP and two aft staterooms with queen berths, and two twin-berth guest staterooms to starboard. The master is highlighted by a single piece of curved glass above the king-size berth, for unbeatable sky views.

The Ocean Alexander 28E has twin 1,650 hp MAN V-12s as standard power, producing a reported 19.8-knot top hop. At 7 knots, the 28E can reportedly travel for nearly 2,100 nautical miles.
