Vicem Yachts is debuting what it calls the “2018 Edition” of the Vicem 58 Classic at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The model first launched in 2010 to offer the 52 Classic’s style but, thanks to a 16-foot-8-inch beam, with a roomier interior. The 58 measures 60 feet length overall and she’s available with a flybridge.

The 58 Classic has a planing hull form, is powered with 725 hp Volvo Penta diesels and is built via cold-molded mahogany. “The marriage of engineered wood with formulated resins yields a hull that is much lighter, much stronger and more durable than a traditionally built boat,” Vicem says.

Some design highlights include a direct connection between the cockpit and salon thanks to an openable, sole-to-ceiling glass door. The yacht’s cockpit has an L-shaped settee parallel with the transom and two more settees. A companionway to starboard leads belowdecks, and the engine room is accessed through a hatch in the cockpit sole.

The salon, with facing settees running fore and aft, is surrounded by windows on all sides, including that sole-to-ceiling window aft, offering 360-degree views. The raised helm station is forward and to starboard and has a bench seat. Stairs are forward of the salon and amidships, leading directly to the 58’s galley-down. Underneath those stairs is space for a washing machine.

This new edition of the 58 classic has a three-stateroom layout. A full-beam master stateroom forward has a queen berth with adjacent settees, an en suite head, and hullside windows for natural light. A second head is for the two guest staterooms, which can also be used as a day head. One of those staterooms has side-by-side twins that can be pushed together to form a double berth. The other stateroom has one port-facing upper bunk and a lower athwartships bunk. All three staterooms include an entertainment system.

As for performance, those Volvo Penta diesels reportedly push the vessel to a 29-knot top hop and a 25-knot cruise speed. Bow thrusters are optional.
