Riviera recently introduced its 72 Sports Motor Yacht, the largest in its three-model Sports Motor Yacht series ranging from 39 to 72 feet.

The Australian boatbuilder surveyed its owners who said they dreamed of a fast, bluewater yacht with sport-fishing and watersports capabilities, a foredeck entertainment space, a fully enclosed flybridge with internal stairs, a covered mezzanine dining area and luxurious interiors. Riviera’s owner, Rodney Longhurst, says the 72 Sports Motor Yacht makes that dream a reality.

The yacht’s 175-square-foot cockpit is particularly equipped for sport fishing and water sports. The deck has four hatches, the outer two can be fish boxes and the inner two access the lazarette and the steering system.

For outside eats and entertainment, a barbecue is forward in the cockpit, below the elevated, covered mezzanine deck with an alfresco dining area. Guests can catch the big game on the fold-down TV to port while enjoying a burger off the unit’s twin grills, which also has a sink and icebox. Forward of the mezzanine is the galley with U-shaped counterspace and walnut cabinetry. Since the galley’s aft window opens to the outdoor space, guests can grab one of two bar stools and chit chat with the chef.

Should that chef step forward into the salon and hang a left, he’d find stairs leading to the 72 Sports Motor Yacht’s enclosed flybridge, where the helm station with Norsap seats up to four displays are found. The helm’s joystick is complemented by two more on the flybridge’s aft deck, one of which is located on a wet bar alongside secondary engine controls and a steering wheel. Internally, the 72’s flybridge offers a convenient feature: one of its lounges converts into a double berth for extra guest accommodations.

Belowdecks, the 72 Sports Motor Yacht can be set up with the 4-stateroom Classic layout or 3-stateroom Presidential layout. In both setups, her en suite master has a king berth, but the Presidential master is full-beam with space to starboard for a seating area or work space. Both also have a 40-inch TV with surround sound. The forward VIP has a walkaround queen berth, while the stateroom aft and to port has twin berths that can combine into a double. With the Classic layout, the final stateroom is opposite with two Pullman-style berths.
