Christian Grande has been busy of late. The designer’s fingerprints were all over the stylish Invictus TT420 Vogue White Edition that made its debut at the recent Cannes Yachting Festival—the same boat show where the SACS Tecnorib Rebel 50 G that Grande designed also made its premiere.

SACS Tecnorib is the official licensee of Pirelli inflatable boats (Pirelli Design is involved with everything from boats and watches to high-end audio systems and luggage). SACS Tecnorib offers two lines: the Strider, whose models can be open or have a hardtop, and Rebel, which the builder calls a blend of classic RIBs and open boats. The Rebel line includes 40-, 47- and 55-footers in addition to the new Rebel 50 G.

The “G” in the moniker Rebel 50 G stands for nothing more than the letter “G.” The idea is that it’s a “closed, collected and powerful shape with soft curves,” which the builder compares to having a closed space on board that’s in “total continuity with the external environment.” The boat has a window that Grande says “seems deliberately suspended to suggest an enthralling sensation of floating,” with the closed space distinguishing this model from other Rebel designs.

In addition to the two side windows that come standard, owners can add a sliding rear window that separates the interior and exterior. When it’s open, the boat feels like an open boat; with it closed, everyone on board is protected from bad weather.

Creature comforts include a TV abaft the helm, a fridge and ice maker, and an L-shaped sofa with a high-low table that can be used for dining if chairs are added. More shade is possible with an extendable electric-roller blind, or owners can insert carbon poles around the beach area to create a space that’s sheltered from the sun. A roof is optional.

Forward, the bow has a corner chaise that the builder describes as “romantic” for sunset views. Grande says: “This area is intended to be an invitation to see motoring as a relaxed flight over water.”

The stern platform can handle an 8-foot tender, with the aft space available in four layouts. The one called Garage Sunpad has a long sofa for relaxation. The Forward Lounge version comes with a C-shaped sofa and extendable table for dining or for conversion as a sun bed. Stern Lounge has opposing sofas that can join together with a table for dining. Free Standing has three armchairs and two small tables for informal conversation.

Interiors are finished with Ceppo di Gre marble, which has a gray-blue hue that the builder says creates an ambience of “unostentatious elegance.”

Let’s talk power: Hull No. 1 of the SACS Tecnorib Rebel 50 G has a pair of 950-horsepower Volvo Penta IPS power plants with a reported top speed of 36 knots, and a cruising speed of 28 knots.

Introducing the SACS TecnoRib Pirelli 42 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/on-board-pirelli-42/ Thu, 08 Jun 2023 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=60392 The 60-knot Pirelli 42 is a pedigree RIB that does many things well.

The Pirelli 42 is the first model in a new line of walkaround RIBs. It’s equally suited to be a large-yacht tender, a beefy chase boat or a stand-alone day cruiser, thanks to its bold design, its high-level performance and its sizable number of amenities.

SACS TecnoRib produces the Pirelli 42 in design collaboration with the Swedish firm Mannerfelt Design Team. Mannerfelt also has a background in designing fast, luxurious automobiles, which is evident in the Pirelli 42’s style. It has a chic, aggressive exterior. The raked windshield integrates into the RIB’s hardtop, supported by twin sculpted pillars for a screaming-fast look.

Side plexiglass windscreens protect the helm’s occupants from the elements. The boat’s beefy, 13-foot-6-inch beam makes it feel larger than 42 feet length overall and allows for 14 passengers on board.

At the helm are triple-bolstered armchair seats, twin 16-inch Simrad multifunction displays with full system controls, Mercury throttles and a joystick for close-quarters boathandling, and a Simrad VHF radio. The single-pane windshield and minimal bow rise coming up on plane mean unobstructed visibility forward at all times.

Abaft the helm station is an entertainment center with a double-drawer fridge, a sink, a grill and a flip-top dining table.

The interior cabin has a dinette that converts to a 6-foot-8-inch berth. There is a separate head. Belowdecks, headroom is 6 feet, making the cabin viable for weekend cruising. Additional onboard features include an electric windlass and anchor, a bow thruster, tilt steering, an aft machine compartment, teak decking, LED lighting, a 10-gallon hot-water heater, a generator, cabin air conditioning, an ice maker and a bow awning for naps in the shade. These are not typical features on tenders, and they allow for a more comfortable style of RIB cruising.

Everywhere around the Pirelli 42, low-profile grab rails enhance the safety factor. Side fold-down steps make boarding easier.

You’ll want to be seated or holding on tight when the exhilarating 60-knot thrill ride begins. On plane, not only are the pontoons out of the water, reducing drag, but they also knock down the waves, resulting in an extremely dry ride throughout the vessel’s speed range. Handling is race-car accurate with no slippage. The new Pirelli 42 can be used in myriad settings, and all of them have fun included.

The Design

The boat’s rigid bottom allows the hull’s multi-strakes and steps to work efficiently with the sea, maximizing seakeeping ability. The four-chamber dual pontoons add stability and side protection. In hard-over turns, the 42 will lean only so far, making for a more enjoyable ride.

Chill Stations

The Pirelli 42 has a sun pad forward. At the peak is an aft-facing sofa. On the aft deck, there is a sun pad with a pivoting backrest.

TecnoRib Pirelli 50
The Pirelli 50 will reportedly do 50 knots with twin 600 hp Mercury Verado V-12s.

The TecnoRib Pirelli 50 is a sporty RIB that can work well as a superyacht tender for adrenaline-filled rides of short and medium lengths alike. It has a twin-stepped planing hull form, and its tubes are built from Orca 866 material. The Pirelli 50 is designed to handle up to 1,800 total horsepower; however, TecnoRib says the boat will do 50 knots with twin 600 hp Mercury Verado V-12s. Design features include a bow sun deck, a stylized hardtop and an outside galley; belowdecks are a head, a double berth in the fo’c’sle, and twin berths at the stern.

Whom It’s For: Owners who want to chase superyachts in style while going for occasional (and fast) weekend forays.

Picture This: “Bomb Alley” is living up to its reputation, and you and your friends want to see the racecourse action at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. So, you hop onto your Pirelli 50 in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, and punch it toward the Maddalena archipelago in style and comfort.

Tecnorib’s latest RIB is the Pirelli 42, a walkaround craft penned by Sweden’s Mannerfelt Design Team. It can be powered with twin diesel or gasoline engines from Volvo Penta or Mercruiser. Maximum total horsepower is 800 for diesels and 900 for gasoline engines.

Whom It’s For: The yacht owner with friends, because the Pirelli 42 has room for 14 people. Additionally, there are sun pads fore and aft to catch some rays. A table in the cockpit allows for alfresco meals. Belowdecks, there are a head and a dinette table that converts to a berth for two. The builder says the Pirelli 42 works equally well as a shadow boat or as a standalone day cruiser.

Picture This: Even big boats can feel confining with a crowd on board. You call a few friends to meet you at the stern and have the crew launch the Pirelli 42. It’s time to take the wheel for some serious fun.

The Pirelli 1900 is Ready to Run https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/pirelli-1900-is-ready-to-run/ Tue, 21 Nov 2017 05:21:46 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=56995 The Pirelli 1900 is a 60-foot-long, 45-knot RIB with a race-boat heritage.

Pirelli is known for car tires, but boats? Actually, yes.

Pirelli, founded in 1872, has been making tires since the early 1900s. Then, in the 1950s, it started building rubber boats. In recent years, Pirelli partnered with Italian builder Tecnorib to license a line of high-performance, stylish tenders and day boats. The Pirelli 1900 is the latest model from the collaboration. The RIB’s aggressive lines and stepped-hull form come from Sweden’s Mannerfelt Design Team, which is known for offshore racing craft: Sixteen Mannerfelt designs have won world championships, so the 1900 has a high-performance pedigree. Twin 800 hp MAN diesels and resin-infused carbon-fiber construction support her go-fast look. And, of course, the tubes have a Pirelli tread design.

WHOM IT’S FOR: The large-yacht owner who likes wind in his hair and wants to run the boat solo whenever he desires.

PICTURE THIS: The night lights of South Beach, Miami, give way to a serene sunrise and a flat-calm Atlantic. No need for coffee today. You’re getting your morning jolt on a 30-knot conch-salad run to Bimini. With the Pirelli 1900 flying across the sea, you’re just two hours away from a cold Kalik and a palate-pleasing seafood plate.
