Edmiston says the 236-foot CRN Arbema is almost ready for the winter charter season after a multimillion-dollar refit.

Launched in 2010, the yacht’s nearly yearlong refit period in the shipyard is expected to finish in November. Charter availability is expected to begin with the Christmas holiday season in the Caribbean, Bahamas and Central America.

Work has included a full paint job, what Edmiston calls “major” technical upgrades, installation of a new interior, the addition of upgraded toys and more.

Accommodations are still for 12 guests and four supernumeraries in eight staterooms. The master is on the main deck and spans the full beam with a fold-down balcony. It also includes a private TV room and massage room.

Following the winter season, the yacht is expected to move to the Mediterranean for summer 2024.

What’s the lowest weekly base rate to charter Arbema? It’s $600,000.

CRN has unveiled details of the 229-foot Project Thunderball, a fully custom yacht with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure that was sold in August 2022.

Vripack drew the external lines and handled naval architecture on this yacht, while Nauta Design did the interior design and outdoor furniture. Y.CO handled the sale and is acting as owner’s representative and project manager.

According to CRN, Project Thunderball has lines similar to a sailboat’s, with an elongated bow, a low profile and curved bilges. The owner is a passionate sailor, so a smaller sailboat will also be delivered to accompany the mothership.

Expectations are for the owner to cruise in the Mediterranean, Florida and the Bahamas, with a focus on scuba diving, sailing and underwater fishing.

Gross tonnage will be 1,100, with accommodations for 12 guests and quarters for 15 crew.

What else is in build at CRN? The yard is also working on three other fully custom yachts ranging from 220 to nearly 280 feet length overall.

Videoworks has released details about systems that it installed aboard the 203-foot CRN Rio, including audiovisual equipment, communications systems and home-automation systems.

For internet connectivity, Riohas a 5G modem with four active SIM cards and a LEO satellite-ready system. Topology flat antennas can be added for satellite connectivity via Starlink or the forthcoming system called OneWeb.

The network infrastructure is based on Cisco Catalyst products, with guest control via iPad or Android tablets that use an app. Guests also can request help from the crew with this system by pressing radio buttons in their staterooms.

For audio needs, there’s a Sonos system that’s compatible with Airplay2 technology. It has a connection interface for a DJ console and plugs for removable speakers. When it’s movie time, the pool area on the wheelhouse deck has an outdoor cinema with a video projector and dedicated audio system.

Videoworks worked with Lutron to create the controls for lighting and window blinds.

What if the yacht owner or crew need help at sea? Videoworks installs a remote-assistance server on board, so its help desk can intervene remotely, 24/7.

Riviera 465 SUV: Expanding the SUV Line

The Riviera 465 SUV is a new-for-2022 model that should appeal to cruisers, anglers and watersports enthusiasts alike. The boat brings Riviera’s SUV line to seven models, starting with the 395 and going up to the 645. The Australian builder worked with 4D Designs to create the 465 SUV, which has three staterooms, two heads and a covered outdoor deck that expands the living space in the salon. The hardtop overhang has a pair of electric sliding sunroofs for even more fresh air on board. The galley is aft and to starboard, with the helm immediately forward of it. Twin 12-inch Garmin Glass Cockpit displays and CZone digital switching are here, along with joystick control for the boat. Siren Marine remote monitoring is also available.

Extra Yachts X30 Villa
Extra Yachts says the X30 Villa’s hybrid propulsion, which includes Volvo Penta IPS1350s, allows a top hop of 17.5 knots. Courtesy Extra Yachts

X30 Villa: Extra’s First Powercat

Extra Yachts is part of the Palumbo Superyachts family of brands, which also includes ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts and Mondo Marine. The Extra brand, known for motoryachts, is now expanding into power catamarans with its first model of that type: the all-aluminum X30 Villa. Interior and exterior design are by the Dutch studio Phathom. The Extra X30 Villa is built with a hybrid propulsion system that reduces harmful emissions and allows for quiet electric-power cruising. Glass-impregnated solar panels are built in to help reduce the need for fuel use, and the interior is constructed with sustainable materials such as repurposed fibers, alternative leathers and reclaimed woods.

wallywind110: Carbon-Fiber Cruiser-Racer

Wally, long known for sailboats and original styling, has created a new wallywind range for owners who want to combine long-distance cruising with performance sailing. The first hull of the wallywind110, with naval architecture by judel/vrolijk & co, is scheduled to launch in May 2024. “The boat is ideal for an experienced sailor—maybe someone who has had boats in the 60- to 80-foot range and is now willing to make the jump to the 100-foot size range to get the extra comforts,” says Wally Managing Director Stefano de Vivo. Owners can choose among three keel types: fixed, telescopic or high-tech lifting. Features include Wally’s underwater anchoring system and Magic Trim hydraulic system for the main and jib sheets.

Ciao has four decks and accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms, including a main-deck master. The near-vertical bow gives the yacht a sporty look, while full-height tinted glazing on the main and upper decks provides guests with uninterrupted views of the sea. Ciao has alfresco dining on the upper deck and versatile lounge areas for guest relaxation on the sun deck and main deck.

Sirena Yachts debuted its latest motoryacht—the Sirena 78—at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The yacht has a semidisplacement hull form from German Frers with an interior design by Cor D. Rover. Owners can choose an open, a semi-enclosed or a fully enclosed flybridge setup. Belowdecks are four staterooms, all with en suite heads, including a full-beam master amidships, a forepeak VIP as well as twin guest staterooms. There are three twin-diesel-engine options from MAN, ranging in horsepower from 1,400 to 1,800. Depending on engine selection, the Sirena 78’s top speed runs from 23 to 27 knots. Cruising speed: 16 knots. At 10 knots, the builder reports a maximum range of 1,480 nautical miles.

236-Foot Superyacht Can Be Bought with Bitcoin https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/yachts/crn-azteca-selling-for-crypto/ Thu, 20 Jan 2022 17:00:00 +0000 https://www.yachtingmagazine.com/?p=57966 CRN Azteca is on sale for $75 million, and the owner will accept crypto.

It has been just 12 years since Bitcoin was launched in 2009. The yachting industry started hearing serious buzz about the cryptocurrency in 2014, when Denison Yachting began accepting it. By 2018, Denison had closed two brokerage deals and a charter booking on a 120- to 130-foot motoryacht, all paid for in bitcoins, but overall, the industry’s adoption of bitcoin has remained slow, especially at superyacht levels.

Until now. In September, Camper & Nicholsons International announced that the owner of the 236-foot CRN Azteca is willing to accept bitcoin for the yacht, at an asking price of about $75 million. It’s believed that the 2010 build is the largest-ever yacht available for purchase with bitcoin.

CRN Azteca Superyacht

“The owner of Azteca owns a bank and is a very big bitcoin dealer,” says Camper & Nicholsons International sales broker Fernando Nicholson. “I approached the idea with another client, and he asked me if I was drinking some kind of weird alcohol. But with the owner of Azteca, I think he is trying to attract the attention of the new, rich, young guys. The IT industry understands bitcoin, and those guys might make an offer if you talk in their language.”

Azteca’s owner already has a team of bitcoin-savvy attorneys, and they’re advising Nicholson, who says accepting bitcoin is the owner’s prerogative.

“We have a boat to sell, and the client can accept any kind of thing,” Nicholson says. “He can accept 10,000 pigs or a painting.”

Inside, the yacht reportedly has extra-large sofas, bespoke free-standing furniture and a grand piano. The owner’s stateroom is said to include its own massage and media rooms. An elevator is available for those who prefer it to the spiral staircase. Courtesy Camper & Nicholsons International

The bitcoin option just might work. At the Monaco Yacht Show in September, Nicholson says, an American flew over specifically to see Azteca. “He was talking about bitcoin—he was talking about it a lot,” Nicholson says. “I think he’s in his 40s. It might happen, it might not, but I don’t believe it’s a fantasy.”

Azteca: A Big-Deal Yacht

Azteca is a high-volume yacht, with a beam just over 44 feet and gross tonnage of 2,043. When it launched in 2010, it was the largest vessel that Italy’s CRN shipyard had ever constructed. The sun deck spans more than 3,500 square feet, and the beach club is nearly 1,200 square feet with an outdoor bar. Accommodations are for as many as 20 guests, with quarters for 25 crewmembers.
