Y.CO says the 228-foot Sherakhan, long popular for charter in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, will be moving to the Middle East and Southeast Asia later this year. Charter dates are available in both destinations starting this autumn.

Sherakhan was built in 1965 as a commercial ship and underwent a full rebuild in 2005, converting her to a luxury yacht. She remains one of the only crewed charter yachts that can handle groups larger than 12 guests, with a 26-guest capacity and amenities including an 18-person hot tub on her sundeck.

The current plan is for Sherakhan to be in the United Arab Emirates for the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November (where the yacht is open for charter) with additional charter itineraries expected in Myanmar, Thailand and the Andaman Islands.

Did you know? Sherakhan was one of the first charter yachts to have a full-size onboard spa.

Y.CO has hit the big-time in welcoming the 282-foot Aquijo to the charter market. The yacht, built in collaboration by Vitters and Oceanco, launched earlier this year as the world’s largest high-performance ketch.

Aquijo comes with a substantial pedigree that not only includes those two top shipyards, but that also includes Tripp Design Naval Architecture, interior design by Dölker + Voges and build oversight by Master Yachts, which served as the owner’s representative.

The yacht has a three-deck design that will accommodate 12 charter guests in their choice of seven staterooms. Dinner parties on board can be held with as many as 24 guests, and charter clients have use of an aft beach club designed similarly to the ones usually found only on power-driven superyachts. Aquijo’s beach club has a steam room, sauna and hot tub with views out over the water.

Because the month of August is considered “high season” in the Med, the 10-percent reduction will be applied to a weekly base rate of $390,000 for charter dates in August.

For September charter dates, the 10-percent price break applies to a weekly base rate of about $368,000.

Regularly, the weekly base rate to charter Teleost is $225,000. That rate is now $180,000, according to management firm Edmiston and Company.
