Seattle Boat Show, or Super Bowl?

No need to choose: Organizers are closing the show a day early for Seahawks fans.

Organizers of this week’s Seattle Boat Show have decided to close the event on Sunday, a day earlier than scheduled, so workers and exhibitors can watch the city’s beloved Seahawks take on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The boat show, which is held at CenturyLink Field and on nearby Lake Union, will now close at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 1. On Sunday the 2nd, when the show previously would have been in its closing day, Seahawks fans who otherwise would be working at the exhibits can stay home and watch the big game being broadcast from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Boat show officials also have arranged for CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks play, to be accessible to fans for several hours each day of the show. A $12 ticket to the boat show will include giving fans the option of walking onto the turf and taking commemorative pictures in front of the goalposts.

“There aren’t many opportunities for the public to walk out onto the field,” George Harris, president of the Northwest Marine Trade Association, stated in a news release. “It’s going to be a pretty exciting and fun experience for a lot of people, and we’re thrilled that we are able to offer this opportunity to our guests in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. Go Hawks!”
