A few years ago, Hodgdon Yachts branched out beyond building custom power- and sailing yachts, with the introduction of its Custom Tenders Line. The Maine-based shipyard has four new tender orders on its books, with design input coming from two well-known yacht designers.

Two of the tenders are being designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design. While both will measure 34 feet LOA and be carried aboard an Oceanco, they’ll be different in appearance. Specifically, one is a custom limo tender, while the other is a custom open tender. The limo tender features a hardtop and side windows. Inside, 12 guests can sit in air-conditioned comfort. To make boarding easier, the hardtop lifts hydraulically. The open tender, meanwhile, is exactly as she sounds: open to the fresh air. Both are set for delivery later this year.

As for the other two tenders, they’re from the drawing boards of Andrew Winch Designs. While Hodgdon Yachts can’t reveal exactly where the mothership is being built, it does say the yard is in northern Europe. Regardless, both tenders will be delivered early next year. They, too, follow limo tender and open tender styling. The limo tender will be a bit different than the Michael Peters design, with a sliding sunroof/moonroof. It will also have a dayhead. The open tender, meanwhile, will be beachable. This way guests can step straight to shore, and beach and watertoy gear can be offloaded quickly.

Speaking of quickly, each of the Hodgdon Yachts custom tenders will be speedy, capable of cruising in the 30-knot range.
